Double-under (stack) pass

You hook both their legs, stack them onto their shoulders, and walk around to side control. Use it when they play a loose open guard or try to triangle you.

Passing Side control

Fixing Your “Double Under” Guard Pass: Avoid These Mistakes (No Gi BJJ/Jiu-Jitsu/Judo) · Brian Glick · YouTube

Step by step

  1. From inside their open guard, drop your hips and slide both arms under their thighs.
  2. Lock your hands on top of their hips or grab your wrist, their hips pulled onto your thighs.
  3. Walk forward and stack them onto their shoulders, knees toward their face.
  4. Turn their knees to one side and step around to the other side, keeping one arm hooked under a leg.
  5. Drop your chest onto theirs and settle side control.

Details that make it work

  • Both arms in. One arm in and one out is a triangle.
  • Stack their weight onto their shoulders, never onto their neck.

Common mistakes

  • Standing tall with no hip pressure, so they wiggle out.
  • Driving straight down on a partner whose neck is bent. Stop and turn their legs instead.

Drill it

10 passes each side at slow speed. Partner taps if the stack is too much on the neck.
