Once they're flat, you work your trapped knee free and slide through to side control. The key is keeping chest pressure while the leg comes out.

Step by step

  1. Flatten them with crossface and underhook.
  2. Use your free foot to push their knees down and free your trapped knee.
  3. Switch your hips toward their legs and pull your knee out of the trap.
  4. Slide your knee across their belly, then pull your foot out.
  5. Turn back to side control with chest pressure.

Details that make it work

  • Keep chest pressure the whole time. Never give space while freeing the leg.
  • If they reverse direction, keep the crossface.

Common mistakes
