Leg drag pass

You drag one leg across your body so their hips turn away from you, then pass. It works well when they have their feet on your hips and you can grab an ankle.

Passing Side control

No Gi Leg Drag (BJJ/Grappling) · Brian Glick · YouTube

Step by step

  1. Grab one ankle and drag that leg across your body to the other side.
  2. Pin their knee against your hip; their legs are now stacked and turned away.
  3. Drop your weight onto their hip, chest down, reaching for the far shoulder.
  4. Walk your hips around to side control, or take the back if they turn away.

Details that make it work

  • Once their hips face away from you, they can't use their guard.
  • Pin their leg to your hip with your hip, not your hands.

Common mistakes

  • Dragging without pinning.
  • Reaching for the head before their hips are controlled.
