Arm drag from butterfly to the back
From butterfly you pull their arm across and slide behind them. It's the go-to back take when they post an arm or reach for you.
Step by step
- From seated butterfly, grab their wrist with your opposite hand (cross grip).
- Reach across with your other hand and grab their triceps.
- Pull the arm across your body while you scoot your hips out to the side and behind them.
- Get your chest on their back; reach over the far shoulder or around the far hip.
- Put in your near hook and climb to a seatbelt.
Details that make it work
- Move your hips, not just their arm: you go to them.
- Keep their arm pinned to your chest as you climb.
Common mistakes
- Dragging while sitting still.
- Losing the arm before your chest is on their back.
Drill it
10 reps each side, ending in a seatbelt.
