Rear-naked choke
Your arm wraps their neck from behind and squeezes both sides. It's the most common finish in no-gi.
Back control Submission
Step by step
- From the seatbelt, slide your over arm across their neck, elbow under the chin.
- Grab your other biceps; put that hand behind their head (or on your own shoulder).
- Squeeze your elbows together and expand your chest into their back.
- If they tuck their chin, win the hand fight first (two-on-one their defending hand) or switch to an arm attack.
Details that make it work
- The crook of your elbow goes under the chin, centered on the neck.
- Blade of your hand behind the head; don't shove the head forward.
Common mistakes
- Forcing it over the jaw (that's a crank, not a choke).
- Losing the hooks while you focus on the choke.
Drill it
5 slow reps each side; partner taps early.
