Step by step

  1. Get to a body lock: both arms under their arms, hands locked low on their back, head tight to their chest.
  2. Pull their hips in tight to yours and step to an angle on one side.
  3. Step your leg behind their near leg, from the outside, your calf against the back of their heel.
  4. Drive your chest into them diagonally back over the trapped leg. They fall backward.
  5. Fall with them, keep the body lock and land chest to chest. Pass to side control.

Details that make it work

  • Hips in first. A body lock with space between you won't trip anyone.
  • Your chest drives them back, your leg only blocks.

Common mistakes

  • Reaching the leg before their weight is on it.
  • Lifting and dropping them. Take them down; never slam.

Drill it
