Hip bump sweep

When they sit up straight in your guard, you sit up into them and roll them over the arm you've wrapped. It chains with the kimura and guillotine.

Closed guard Mount

Hip Bump Entry From Closed Guard by Craig Jones · BJJ Fanatics · YouTube

Step by step

  1. When they posture up, sit up fast, posting one hand behind you.
  2. Reach your other arm over their shoulder, over the top of their arm.
  3. Open your guard, plant your feet, and drive your hips up into them, rolling them over the arm you've trapped.
  4. Follow through to mount.

Details that make it work

  • Timing: the moment they sit back up, go.
  • If they post that arm hard to stop the sweep, it's open for a kimura.

Common mistakes

  • Sitting up halfway and getting pushed back down.
  • Trapping their arm with your hand instead of wrapping it with your shoulder.

Drill it

Combo drill: hip bump, they defend, you switch to kimura. 10 reps.
