Single-leg X sweep
You trap one leg between yours, push their far hip, and lift the leg to drop them on their seat. Use it when you reach single-leg X from shin-to-shin or butterfly.
Step by step
- Get to single-leg X: their leg between yours, hugged to your chest, heel clamped by your arm.
- Your inside foot pushes their far hip. Your outside leg wraps behind their thigh, knee pointing out.
- Push their far hip away with your foot while your outside leg lifts their knee up toward their chest.
- They fall back to their seat. Keep hugging the leg.
- Post your free hand, technical stand-up, and step around their leg to pass. Or stay down and go to the straight ankle lock.
Details that make it work
- Clamp the heel tight. If the foot slips out, the sweep is gone.
- Push the far hip, not the thigh. The hip is what moves them.
Common mistakes
- Pulling with your arms instead of extending with your legs.
- Standing up with your hands off the leg, so they re-guard.
Drill it
10 sweeps each side, alternating finishes: 5 stand-ups and 5 straight ankle lock entries.
If it fails, or what comes next
- Straight ankle lock Submission · Leg entangle
- Knee cut (knee slice) pass Pass · Passing
- Toreando (bullfighter) pass Pass · Passing
