Straight ankle lock
Your forearm under their Achilles, arching to bend the foot. It's legal at white belt in most rule sets and a good first leg lock.
Leg entangle Submission
Step by step
- From ashi garami, wrap your forearm under their Achilles, using the bony blade of your wrist.
- Grip your hands (or your other hand on their shin), their foot tucked under your armpit.
- Push your hips forward and arch your back to finish.
- Squeeze your knees to keep the leg.
Details that make it work
- The Achilles sits on the bony part of your forearm.
- Arch with your whole body, don't just pull with your arms.
Common mistakes
- Gripping too low, on the foot.
Drill it
