Truck entry from turtle to back take

You lock one of their legs from behind their turtle and pull them back onto you. Use it when they turtle tight and a direct back take won't open.

Turtle (top) Back control

Geo Martinez Teaches Two Entries Into 'The Truck' In Two Minutes · FloGrappling · YouTube

Step by step

  1. From the side of their turtle, chest on their back, thread your near leg between their legs and hook their near thigh.
  2. Sit back onto your hip behind them and lock your legs around their near leg: your far leg over the top, ankles crossed (a lockdown). That's the truck.
  3. Reach your near arm over their back and grab their far arm or far shoulder.
  4. Pull their upper body back toward you. Their hips are trapped, so they fall back on top of you.
  5. Release the lockdown and slide your top leg in as a hook while you get a seatbelt.
  6. Insert your second hook and settle in back control.

Details that make it work

  • The lockdown on their leg is what holds them in place. Keep it tight until their back is on you.
  • Pull them backward over your chest, not sideways off you.

Common mistakes

  • Letting your legs loosen, so they turn into you and come up on top.
  • Reaching for the neck before their back is on your chest.
