Step by step

  1. From high mount, wait for them to lift their head or push on your chest to escape.
  2. Wrap one arm around their neck so the blade of your wrist is under their chin. Let their pushing arm come inside for arm-in, or knock it out for no-arm.
  3. Grip your choking wrist with your other hand, or go palm to palm if their arm is in.
  4. Drop your chest over their head and stretch your legs back so your hips sit heavy on their chest. Keep one foot wide for base if they bridge.
  5. Finish slowly. Pull the blade of your wrist up into their throat and drive your choking elbow high, squeezing with your chest and hips, not just your arms.

Details that make it work

  • The blade of the wrist goes under the chin into the throat. If it is on the jaw, it is a crank, so reset.
  • Stay heavy. If your hips float, they bridge and roll you.

Common mistakes

  • Falling off mount to guard to finish, giving up the best position for a worse angle.
  • Squeezing with the arms only and letting the elbow drop.

Drill it

Partner in bottom mount pushes your chest. 8 entries each side to the locked grip, then 3 slow finishes each side.
