No-gi Ezekiel choke from mount

A forearm choke from mount using one arm behind their neck and the other blade across the throat. Use it when they block the arm triangle and keep their hands at their chest.

Mount Submission

Step by step

  1. From mount, wait until they cover their neck with their hands or push your chest. Drop your chest and put your head on the mat beside theirs.
  2. Slide one arm under their head so your forearm is behind their neck.
  3. With that hand, grip your other arm at the biceps.
  4. Bring that other forearm across the front of their throat, blade edge down, hand reaching past the far side of their neck.
  5. Keep your knees wide and your hips low. Both arms are busy, so your base comes from your legs.
  6. Finish slowly. Drive the blade toward the mat and lift the arm behind their neck, closing your elbows like scissors.

Details that make it work

  • The blade goes into the front of the neck below the jaw, not across the face.
  • It works when they block the arm triangle and keep their hands at their chest. You do not need their arm.

Common mistakes

  • Sitting up tall while you set the grip, so they bridge and roll you.
  • Pushing the blade into the chin and calling it a choke.

Drill it

Partner in bottom mount with hands up. 10 reps: set the grip, settle base, slow finish. Then 2 rounds of 1 minute where they bridge as you set it.
