Triangle choke

A choke made with your legs: their neck and one arm are trapped in a figure-four of your legs. You need one of their arms in and the other out.

Step by step

  1. Get one of their arms in and one out: push one wrist to their hip, pull the other to your chest.
  2. Shoot your leg (on the side of the arm that's out) high across the back of their neck.
  3. Grab your shin and angle your body out toward that leg's side.
  4. Lock it: the back of your knee over your other ankle.
  5. Pull their head down, squeeze your knees, lift your hips.

Details that make it work

  • The angle finishes it. A square-on triangle rarely finishes.
  • Pull the trapped arm across their own body to tighten it.

Common mistakes

  • Both arms in or both out. You need one in, one out.
  • Not cutting the angle.

Drill it

10 triangle entries each side, then 5 slow finishes.
