Outside heel hook from outside ashi
A heel hook from outside ashi, used when they defend the saddle. Use it when they defend the saddle by turning their knee out, and finish slowly.
Leg entangle Submission
Step by step
- Start in outside ashi: their leg between yours, your outside leg crossing over their hip, your feet locked on their inside thigh.
- Squeeze your knees on their knee and keep your hips tight to their butt.
- Trap their foot on your outside: toes under your armpit, heel in the crook of your arm.
- Lock your hands together with your wrist blade under the heel.
- Keep your bottom foot on their far hip so they can't turn or step over.
- Learn the finishing direction from your coach in person, never from an app. Finish with a slow, small turn of your chest. Stop the moment they tap.
Details that make it work
- Pin the knee before you touch the heel.
- When they try to roll with it, keep your knees tight and turn with them. Never crank as they roll.
Common mistakes
- Leaving your top leg loose, so they clear the knee line.
- Sitting up too high, which opens space at your hips.
Drill it
