Single leg (run the pipe)
You take one leg and finish by turning the corner or tripping the other leg. It's safer than a double when they stand in a staggered stance with one leg forward.
Step by step
- From a collar tie or arm drag, step in and drop your level to their lead leg.
- Grab behind the knee and lift the leg to your hip, head tight on the inside against their chest.
- Pinch the leg between your thighs or keep it high on your hip. Head up.
- Finish by running the pipe (turn the corner, drive your shoulder down through their thigh while stepping back), or trip the standing leg.
- Follow them to the mat and settle into side control.
Details that make it work
- Head on the inside of the leg is safer from guillotines.
- Turning the corner is done with your feet, not by pulling with your arms.
Common mistakes
- Hugging the leg low with your head down at their knee.
- Letting them whizzer and flatten you. Keep your hips under you.
Drill it
